GPS Module Reyax RYS8839 review and interfacing it on a computer
Published at : 23 Dec 2025
In this video, I'm reviewing and testing a GPS module from Reyax, the RYS8839 which is a dual-band, L1 L5 multi constellation GNSS module.
The module is ultra small in size with just 11 by 8 mm and it is used with an external antenna so it is very easy to put inside a product where the antenna can be routed outside for a better view of the sky and thus better signal.
The module operates at 1.8V and with its Lite version, it can also be powered from 3.3V and 5V but the logic levels are always at 1.8V. Because of this, you need to be careful if you plan to use it with development boards like the ESP32 or NodeMCU to always use a level shifter.
In the video, I have the module connected through the RYLS135 level shifter module from Reyax to my computer where I can then interact with the module through the provided GNSS Monitor app and I can send commands to the module, as well as receive data and GPS position from it.
