China's Wild New Inflatable Wind Turbine (1.2 MW Output)

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

Picture this: A massive object flying right above you, almost the size of an airplane. It looks like something straight out of science fiction, and okay, admittedly, it won’t be happening directly over our heads. But these inflatable wind turbines could be floating over deserts and oceans as early as next year. At altitudes of up to 1,500 meters!

A company from China promises that this height will ensure predictable and, above all, reliable power generation. These balloons can be set up in just a few hours and produce nearly 7,000 megawatt-hours of energy per year, powering almost 2,000 households. But how promising are these systems really? How do they work? And are they actually better than conventional wind turbines? You’ll find out in this video.
