ZimaOS on the ZimaBlade

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

don’t have the budget—or the justification right now—to buy a ZimaBlade. But I really want one. Man, do I want one.

When ZimaBlade had their sale back in May, I thought, “Okay, let me go for it.” I could’ve picked up a ZimaBoard 2, but I already have two ZimaBoards. I wanted something I could install ZimaOS on and really put the NAS functionality to the test.

The ZimaBlade sale from ⁨@ZimaSpace was fantastic.

I got all of the following for just $180:

1 × ZimaBlade with 32GB eMMC storage
1 × 16GB SODIMM RAM
1 × 12V/3A Power Supply
1 × Mini DisplayPort (Male) to HDMI (Female) adapter
1 × 2-Bay HDD Rack Tray for ZimaBlade and Raspberry Pi dual storage
1 × SATA Y-Cable for ZimaBoard/ZimaBlade
1 × Zima tote bag

I downloaded ZimaOS from the ZimaSpace GitHub repo: 🔗 https://github.com/IceWhaleTech/ZimaOS

The ZimaBlade came with CasaOS pre-installed on the 32GB eMMC, so I had to wipe it first. I used a Linux Live distro and GParted to clear the storage, then installed ZimaOS on the blade.
