What does it take to save one of the rarest birds in Galápagos? 🐦

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

In this short and captivating documentary, we follow the little vermilion flycatcher through its most successful breeding season yet—December 2024 to April 2025—from nest building to fledging.
Alongside researchers from the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Galápagos National Park Directorate, we explore the threats it faces: degraded habitat in the Scalesia forest, limited food availability, and its deadliest enemy—the parasitic Philornis downsi fly.
Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, 39 fledglings took flight this season! A hopeful milestone for this iconic species. 🌿
