Who is the manufacturer of Wartburg?
Wartburg is an East German automotive brand used for cars manufactured at VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach.

Is the Wartburg 353 reliable?
The Wartburg 353 was commonly nicknamed "Trustworthy Hans" or "Farty Hans" by owners due to its durability and copious exhaust emissions, especially when cold and/or overoiled.

What happened to Wartburg cars?
The 1.3 remained in production until 1991 when, following the collapse of sales after German unification, the factory closed its doors for good. General Motors Opel division built a new factory in Eisenach to employ some of the redundant Wartburg factory workers.
