Tube Amp Build, DIY Princeton 6G2 Guitar amplifier from scratch

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

How I made a Princeton tube guitar amp, from start to finish. I used a few old parts, and lots of new parts. The transformers are from an inexpensive HiFi amplifier. The brown panel 6G2 chassis is steel. The parts are from various distributors. I built the cabinet from one big piece of clear pine. I happened to have the alnico speaker from an old organ to install into the cabinet.
I recorded some songs to feature sounds of the new amp, they begin near the last half of the video.

All guitar parts in the songs are recorded directly into a load box with various 12" cab sims.
One of the songs features the famous "bias tremolo" that this circuit is known for.
Any part that sounds like it has chorus, flange, or phase is actually recorded twice for a natural chorus effect.
2 of the songs have been featured in some of my other videos, but were re-recorded with the Princeton Brown amp.
