Are you tired of shoveling snow? I was too, so I decided to build my very own remote-controlled snowplow! In this video, I walk you through how I made this machine, almost with zero welding experience. (I welded somewhat when I was like 12 years old...) I will also show I solved the electronics and wiring for this homemade snowplow.

This project started as a fun experiment in my garage, and it's been a learning experience from start to finish. It's also my first time welding (not perfect, but an angle grinder helps fix things!). Since I started posting updates, I've received lots of questions about how the snowplow actually works. People have been asking about everything from the type of motors I used to the details of the control system, including how to control high-power DC motors with a radio controller.

In this video, I show the whole prosess, from making the steel frame, chassis, axles, sprockets, chain drive, led lights, and the electronics system, step by step. I explain the wiring diagram I designed and highlight key components like the Sabertooth 2x60A motor controller, which I paired with a standard RC receiver/transmitter. I also added an important failsafe feature that cuts power to the motors if the signal is lost or an emergency stop is triggered.

For power, I'm using two standard car batteries wired in series to provide 24V and 62Ah, giving the machine enough juice to move efficiently. The snowplow weighs in at 100 kg (220 lbs), so safety and control are critical!

Alongside developing this project, I've also been improving my video editing skills. The film from this snowplow project was actually the first video I uploaded to YouTube, and it has helped me gain over 1,000 subscribers on YouTube! To my big but happy surprise, there's a lot of interest in this machine. Therefor, I wanted to make this video as good as possible. I've included clips that seem to have generated the most interest and removed parts that might not have been as engaging. I hope and believe this refined version will be well-received. The program I have been using for video editing is Final Cut Pro. But I am not a Pro anyways..

Whether you're interested in building your own RC machine like this, or just want to learn more about DIY electronics, or welding, I hope this video provides some helpful insights. I'll walk you through my the process, learning by doing.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to drop them in the comments. Don't forget to subscribe if you enjoy this kind of DIY content and want to follow along with future builds!

I have bigger plans for this machine, like adding a snowblower, trailer, linear actuator for tilting the snowplow blade side to side and so on. If you have other great ideas, please tell me! :)

Thanks for watching! Build your own snowplowing machine! Its worth it!
