Segmented Vase With Bat Motif, woodturning

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

Welcome back to the Mayuko Woodturning channel. In this video, I create a segmented vase made of maple, rengas, and rosewood, featuring a striking bat motif created from carefully arranged geometric patterns. The contrasting colors of these woods help the motif stand out, giving the piece a bold and dramatic feel. I previously made this vase without a bat motif, just a plain red vase, but I felt something was missing, so I added the bat motif as a centerpiece.

Each segment is precisely cut, assembled, and shaped on a lathe to create clean lines and a balanced shape. The vase is finished with natural beeswax, which enhances the wood's natural warmth and gives it a smooth, elegant sheen.

This project combines artistic design with fine woodworking craftsmanship.
