Now we dive into a brand-new series: 2025 Winter Shop Projects. First up is a John Deere S670 I looked at this fall that was throwing an intake manifold air temperature high code and derating the engine. During my initial diagnosis, I suspected an intake valve issue around cylinder 4 based on the compression noise in the intake and how fast the sensor was heating. We had the combine hauled into the shop so we could pull the engine and dig deeper—well, that time is now.
There’s a lot of wrenching in this one as I walk you through removing the engine from the combine, getting it on a stand, tearing it down, and finally finding the root cause of the failure. You won’t believe what we discovered.
At the end of the video, there’s bonus content: a tribute to my buddy Jake and my YouTube journey.
