Russia Just Made Europe an Offer NATO Won't Even Acknowledge
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that Russia doesn’t plan to attack any NATO member or any member of the EU. Moreover, he added that Russia is willing to put all of this in writing. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte by contrast has sounded the alarm and urged NATO to take the “Russian threat” seriously. He has stated that in five years, Russia will have the capabilities to attack a NATO member. Rutte has also urged NATO members to increase defence spending, saying that 5% of GDP is simply not enough. Ursula von Der Leyen has responded to Trump’s criticisms by saying that democracy in Europe is a matter exclusively attributed to Europe and the US should not meddle. This was a clear warning to Donald Trump. Ursula has defended the EU’s policies by arguing that this is the very reason for why the EU is looking at possibly implementing the “Democracy Shield”. A survey done by Politico shows that Donald Trump is the most influential political figure in Europe, with many Europeans seeing Trump as more decisive that the EU leaders.
