Repairing My Laptop Before It Explodes

I have a laptop with damaged swollen battery and I nee to repair it because using the laptop could cause the battery to start a fire. I will replace the battery and give the laptop a good cleaning so that I can keep using the laptop. Fixing cosmetic issues is not something I'm concerned in this project because the laptop won't be sitting on my desk all day but in my bags and in my shop so it will get more cosmetic damage and dirt very soon.
