Recovering Copper From Waste Using Iron – How Much We Got
In this video, I demonstrate how to recover copper from waste solutions left over from gold recovery from electronic waste (e-waste). Using a simple iron-cementation process, I show how dissolved copper can be recovered rather than discarded.
You’ll learn:
How iron is used to cement copper out of solution
Why copper remains in waste solutions after gold recovery
How to use hydrated lime to neutralise and balance pH safely
The total amount of copper recovered from 2.5 litres of solution.
This process highlights how gold refining waste can still contain valuable metals, and how old electronics discarded every year can be turned into profit through proper recovery methods.
⚠️ Educational use only. Always wear proper safety gear, work in a ventilated area, and follow local regulations for chemical handling and disposal.
