Peter Stull Reveals the Story of Bicycle Man and his recumbent museum
Published at : 23 Dec 2025
In this June 2024 interview, recorded inside his legendary New York shop Bicycle Man, Peter Stull shares how he went from repairing bikes at age 11 to becoming one of the most known figures in the American recumbent world. He talks about his early choices between models like the Rans Rocket and Vision R40, the moment his traditional bike shop shifted toward recumbents, and what the balance between recumbent bikes, trikes, and upright bikes looks like today. Peter also opens the doors to his growing museum, filled with rare machines from the 1970s and 1980s, early Terra Trikes, predecessors of ICE trikes, and several forgotten designs that never really made it into a successful production. An interesting look at the history, passion, and quirks that shaped the recumbent scene in the U.S.
