Four of the most hardcore hot hatches ever built go head-to-head on track — it’s Mini GP3 vs Renault Megane Trophy-R vs Honda Civic Type R vs Toyota GR Yaris. 💥

With Racing Driver Sam behind the wheel, we’re finding out which one is the ultimate driver’s car when pushed to the limit. Each of these cars represents a very different approach to performance — from raw front-wheel-drive precision to rally-bred all-wheel-drive aggression.

🏁 The Contenders:
🔥 Mini John Cooper Works GP3 – The wildest Mini ever made. Stripped of its rear seats, fitted with huge arches, sticky semi-slick tyres and a 302bhp 2.0-litre turbo, it’s a pocket-sized track weapon that puts its power through the front wheels alone. Brutal, loud, and seriously quick.

🇫🇷 Renault Megane Trophy-R – A Nürburgring record holder. RenaultSport took everything unnecessary out — no rear seats, no rear wiper, even the air-con is optional — and turned the Megane into a lightweight, precision-engineered track monster. With Cup 2 tyres, Öhlins suspension, and Brembo brakes, it’s a serious bit of kit.

🇯🇵 Honda Civic Type R (FL5) – The benchmark hot hatch. Its 2.0-litre VTEC turbo delivers 325bhp through one of the best manual gearboxes ever made. It’s a car that feels equally at home on the daily commute as it does destroying apexes on track. Engineering perfection and everyday usability in one package.

🇯🇵 Toyota GR Yaris – The rally car for the road. With its bespoke chassis, turbocharged three-cylinder engine, and trick all-wheel-drive system, the GR Yaris brings WRC tech to the track. Compact, agile, and unbelievably fast out of corners — it’s the underdog everyone loves.
