Copyright claims against repair information are a real thorn in the side of the repair community. So we were pretty upset to hear a story this week from Mend It Mark, who runs a channel about restoring vintage electronics, especially focusing on antique audio equipment. He’s great. He really knows his stuff, and you should go check him out.

https://www.youtube.com/@UCZHhLyDll3hYHC0pyjbWFJA He made a video about a 25,000-pound pre amp from a company called Tom Evans, showing how he diagnosed and fixed it. Tom Evans put in a copyright claim against the video, and it got taken down.
We think that’s ridiculous. Repair information should be free. It shouldn’t be copyrightable, and our lawyers agree. So we’re joining folks in sharing Mend It Mark’s original video, so that knowledge doesn’t get erased from the internet.
