Inside the PicoCalc

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

I'm a well-rounded nerd - so in addition to retro computers and game systems, I also hold an affinity for calculators. So when I saw that Clockwork Pi released a Pico-based calculator, I just knew I had to take a look.

In this video, I'll dive into the PicoCalc and take you through the design of the hardware. I'll then look at the out-of-box PicoMite operating system, before swapping it out for some more interesting firmware options, including a Commodore 64 port that I've been working on. And finally, I'll stretch the PicoCalc's capabilities by swapping out the Pico for a full-feature ARM CPU that runs Linux.
