🛠️ YouTube Video Description (Step-by-Step & Professional):
📱 In this professional-level tutorial, I will guide you through the complete process of replacing a 3-point MEMS microphone on an Android smartphone PCB using a unique and safe hot-air soldering method. This method minimizes the risk of damaging the sensitive MEMS mic by avoiding direct hot air contact.
Whether you're a mobile technician or an electronics repair enthusiast, this detailed guide will enhance your skills in micro soldering and precision component replacement.

🔧 Step-by-Step Repair Guide:
1. Disassemble the Phone:
o Power off the device.
o Carefully remove the back cover, battery, and main PCB (motherboard) from the phone housing.
2. Secure the PCB:
o Place the mobile PCB onto a stable PCB holder to ensure it doesn’t move during the repair process.
3. Desolder the Old MEMS Microphone:
o Apply a small amount of fresh solder directly on top of the existing mic. This helps lower the melting point of the existing solder and makes removal easier.
o Gently hold your soldering iron on the mic until the solder melts.
o As soon as it melts, lift the microphone using tweezers with precision and care.
4. Clean the Contact Pads:
o Use solder wick to remove any remaining old solder from the three pads.
o Clean the area thoroughly using isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to ensure good contact for the new microphone.
5. Prepare for Installation:
o Apply fresh solder paste evenly on all three pads where the new MEMS mic will be installed.
o Place the new 3-point MEMS microphone carefully on the prepared pads, making sure it’s aligned correctly.
6. Protect the New Microphone:
o Since MEMS microphones are highly sensitive to heat, especially from hot air, place a small glass tube or heat shield over the microphone. This will deflect direct hot air and prevent internal damage.
7. Reflow the Solder with Hot Air:
o Apply hot air around the microphone area (not directly on the mic) at approximately 280°C.
o After a few seconds, the microphone will naturally settle into place as the solder melts and aligns.
8. Final Cleaning & Reassembly:
o Allow the PCB to cool.
o Clean any remaining flux using IPA.
o Reassemble the device and test the microphone functionality.
