In this video you can learn how to make a homemade bioplastic bag.
This bag is made of gelatin bioplastic, which is biodegradable.
This bag is assembled without glue, with the use of a heat sealer.

F.A.Q.

Q: Can I make this recipe without pectin?
A: Yes, but the resulting bioplastic will be more flimsy (it's difficult to show the difference on camera).

Q: Is this material water-resistant?
A: https://youtu.be/SvzxgKT9akU

Q: What is the container where you pour the mix?
A: That's a silicone mould. You can find them in online retailers, and you'll see them in lots of shapes if you google "silicone mould for resin".

Q: Where should I place it to dry?
A: You can leave it to dry at open air inside your house, or put it in the sun if that's an option.

Q: What is the quickest way to dry it?
A: The ideal and fastest way to dry it is a dehydrator.

Q: My bioplastic developed mold, how can I avoid that?
A: It's difficult to say, I haven't had problems with mold; I don't sanitize or disinfect the utensils, but I generally try to keep the work area and tools as clean as possible.

Q: What if I don't have a heat-sealer?
A: You can use a clothes iron, as you see here https://youtu.be/83kGlXN5epk
or a hair iron, as you can see in this project https://youtu.be/bj0hab1Kga0

Q: Is this material biodegradable?
A: You can see the tests I made so far here https://youtu.be/rGT6VMbwqzc

Q: Can I substitute gelatin for starch?
A: For starch bioplastic you should use a different recipe: https://youtu.be/Uaz9Qvadyio

Q: What kind of pectin do you use?
A: Low methoxyl amidated pectin.

Q: What type of glycerin do you use?
A: I've only ever seen regular glycerin, so I'm not sure how to answer this.
