Her Car Restoration Diary (9) | Clutch Repair on 1929 Bugatti | WILL IT DRIVE? | No Commentary

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

After the rally, the road always speaks back.
This time, it told us that Gromit — our 1929 Bugatti Type 43A — still had more stories to tell.

In this episode, we return to the workshop to put things right:
• Removing and cleaning the clutch after strange behavior on the rally
• My mentor explaining how this rare Bugatti clutch actually works
• Tracing an electrical fault that left the right sidelight dark
• Building a new wooden floor panel under the pedals — the way it was in 1929
• Fixing a loose undertray that rattled through every bump
• And solving the mystery of the horn that only worked when the steering column moved

Chapters:
00:00 - Intro/Flashback
00:20 - Removing the Clutch
03:26 - Fixing what is wrong with the clutch and fitting it back
08:18 - Electrical issues
09:55 - Floor panel
12:35 - Loose undertray
14:41 - Drive test
15:14 - Horn not working

Every repair is another lesson in how these machines were built — and how to keep them alive.

This film follows our previous rally adventure — the miles we drove, the problems we found, and what it means to care for history one bolt at a time.
