DIY Hot Plate for SMD Soldering Using Raspberry Pi Pico

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

When you think of soldering, the first things that come to mind may be a soldering iron or a hot air gun for reflowing SMD components. Join Milos as he explores another method: using a hot plate!

A hot plate can be bought cheaply. It's great for soldering with a PCB stencil or unsoldering an IC with many pins. This project shows how to create a DIY hot plate for soldering PCBs using a Raspberry Pi Pico for control and temperature regulation. The tutorial covers assembly, safety considerations, and integrating an NTC thermistor for temperature measurements. Viewers receive all necessary files and code, providing a cost-effective solution for precise PCB soldering.
