Digital modes without CAT controls

Are you hampered by incompatible CAT adapters? Here are a few solutions -
Out of desperation, I downloaded an Android FT8 program. I made a few contacts just using the audio between the mobile phone and rig, but manually keying the Radio TX. It was hard work!

Then I discovered the MK9G TOAD project. Maybe this was the answer. It used a modified Cmedia CM108 audio USB dongle.
I already used one of these, but I ordered the PCB version to butcher.
