In this video, I show you exactly how I change the factory-filled soy-based hydraulic fluid to remove the leftover metal fragments and slag from manufacturing that circulate and eat the pump alive.
Using my John Dow fluid extractor, I’ll remove the contaminated oil and refill it with Premium ISO 46 hydraulic fluid using a 5-gallon bucket and lever pump setup. Finally, we’ll check the sight glass for proper level before startup.
If you own a Chinese-built excavator (Shanding, Rippa, AGT, Miva, or any other 1-ton import), this step is mandatory maintenance before start operation.
