This is the story of a 657cc, 45-horsepower Japanese mini truck… versus the most rugged off-road trail in Colorado.
In this episode, we take our modified 1992 Suzuki Carry—built for fish markets and farm lanes—deep into the San Juan Mountains to attempt something it was never meant to do: conquer the legendary Alpine Loop. With nothing but a roll cage, 25-inch tires, skid plates, and a lot of hope, we climb over 12,000-foot passes, through abandoned mining towns, and into terrain that tests even full-size 4x4s.
We started this journey with doubt. Could a Kei truck survive two major mountain passes and a day of punishment above the treeline? Would it break? Overheat? Stall out at altitude? Or would this little truck do something extraordinary?
It’s a miniature 4x4 mission—and we pushed it farther than anyone expected.
