Step into the heart of Alfa Romeo’s exclusive personalization atelier, the “Bottega Alfa Romeo,” where owners shape their dream car alongside designers and engineers, choosing every detail from materials to finishes.
Then, go behind the scenes of one of the most advanced and artisanal car production processes in the world.
From a carbon fiber monocoque to an aluminum-structured roof, from three-layer hand-applied paint to extreme quality controls — every part of the 33 Stradale is built for perfection.

The experts attending the event had the chance to witness every stage of the production process behind the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale — a true showcase of Italian excellence, where cutting-edge technology meets master craftsmanship. This synergy is made possible through the expertise of Touring Superleggera, the renowned coachbuilder operating since 1926, at their facility in Rivalta, near Turin.
Each car is built through a meticulously structured assembly line composed of two parallel tracks, designed to separate different phases for maximum efficiency. The system includes eight dedicated stations: four for assembly and four for finishing and quality control, allowing up to eight vehicles (plus one) to be worked on simultaneously.
The process begins with the arrival of the “body-in-white” — a pre-assembled frame that undergoes precise scanning to configure all mechanical, electronic, and structural interfaces. The next steps involve fitting the front and rear subframes, treated with cataphoresis, to create the H-shaped structure that’s bonded with the carbon fiber monocoque, ensuring both rigidity and safety.
The first external component to be installed is the carbon fiber roof, which includes an aluminum inner structure. This element serves as the geometric anchor for all remaining panels and is secured with high-strength fasteners to optimize both acoustic insulation and structural integrity.
Following this, external body panels — including the side sections, doors, and rear engine cover — are pre-fitted using specialized jigs to ensure millimeter-level accuracy. At this stage, Touring’s master craftsmen manually fine-tune all gaps and alignments, ensuring the highest standards of finish.
Once the body shell is completed, moving components like the hood and trunk are installed with precision aluminum hinges, followed by bumpers, aerodynamic splitters, and air ducts. The car is then relocated to the Touring Superleggera facility in Arese for painting.
This phase involves a three-layer manual paint application: an epoxy base primer, an adhesion-promoting intermediate coat, and the final color layer — all applied by hand by highly skilled technicians to ensure an exceptional finish. Each panel is carefully re-inspected before components such as mirrors, glass, air intakes, weather seals, and lighting units are mounted.
Next, the vehicle undergoes water-tightness testing to guarantee total environmental sealing. The interior is then assembled, with many components pre-fitted off the main line thanks to a modular construction approach. These are later installed inside the finished shell.
Finally, the vehicle enters the “final validation” station, where Touring specialists — followed by Alfa Romeo engineers — perform thorough checks on aesthetics, mechanical functionality, and overall driving dynamics. Only after passing all inspections is the car deemed ready for customer delivery
