6DN7 tube HiFi Amp MORE mods Part 3 // New transformers, resistors and Constant Current Device.
Published at : 23 Dec 2025
In this video I install new output transformers, new resistors, new capacitors and a Solid State Constant Current Source to refine this amplifier even more!
This amp produces around 1.5 - 2 watts of sonic goodness! (I'm still blown away!) These TV tubes have a wide range 25Hz - 21,000Hz (dependant on the OT used) Deep bass, crisp/bright highs and a wide sound stage.
Specs: Two 6DN7 vacuum tubes (1 per channel) Two 5k Primary - 8ohm output transformer (Edcor XSE 10-8-5k) One 275-0-275 ~80ma power transformer (i.e. Hammond 270CX, 270DV, 271X)
The circuit shown is a mixture of topologies that I have built over the years. It is not unique and few will notice similarities between various circuits posted in tube literature and various DIY Forum/Communities. I do not assume any ownership of this design. This is posted for hobby use only. Feel free to copy, adjust and modify.
