3D Printing’s Biggest Scam Is Even Worse Than We Thought!

Carbon fibre filament is sold as a premium upgrade — stronger, stiffer, more professional.

After our first investigation, something didn’t add up.
So this time, we went much further than typical filament tests.

In this video, we combine:

High-resolution microscopy
3D imaging of internal structures
Mechanical testing in multiple print directions

Some of these tests were done specifically to confirm what everyone — including me — expects from carbon fibre materials.
The things we all agree should be better.

That’s not what happened.

Instead of relying on assumptions, we looked directly inside printed parts and then compared what we saw to how they actually fail under load.

What we found explains why carbon fibre filament often behaves very differently from what the marketing suggests — and the most surprising result came from a test we fully expected to win.

This is not about brands or print settings.
It’s about what really happens inside carbon fibre-filled filaments during FDM printing.

If you use — or plan to use — CF filament, this is worth seeing.
