https://the-race.com) today suggest that two of F1's leading power unit manufacturers - Mercedes-Benz Powertrain and Red Bull Powertrain - have devised a typically creative way of compensating for the reduction in piston compression ratio specified by the new regulations. Although adrift from the spirit of the rules, these innovations appear to be legal. Which creates, at this very late stage, a huge headache for the FIA, who have been charged with ensuring engine parity across the field - and angst, of course, amongst the non-Mercedes, non-RBPT teams.
