2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio: Better Than BMW X3 & Porsche Macan?!

Published at : 23 Dec 2025

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2026 offers three powertrains:
2.0L turbo petrol, 280 hp, 295 lb-ft – 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds
2.2L turbo diesel, 210 hp, 347 lb-ft – 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds
2.9L V6 Quadrifoglio, 510 hp – 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in under 4 seconds
All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

For 2026, the Stelvio continues with subtle but effective updates, following the 2023 refresh that focused on lighting design and improved driver assistance systems. The lineup now features all-wheel drive as standard, with Alfa Romeo’s advanced Q4 AWD system, prioritizing rear-wheel drive and sending up to 50% of power to the front when grip is limited.

Despite sitting nearly 20 cm higher than the Giulia, the Stelvio maintains impressive road manners thanks to double wishbone front suspension, Multi-link rear aluminum suspension, Carbon-fiber driveshaft and Lightweight aluminum body panels.
With a curb weight of around 1.6 tonnes, the Stelvio is roughly 10% lighter than rivals like the BMW X3 or Porsche Macan, enhancing agility and responsiveness.

More spacious and versatile than the Giulia, the Stelvio offers everyday usability without sacrificing character. It’s not built for extreme off-roading, but it handles real-world conditions confidently while remaining one of the most emotionally engaging SUVs in its class.

The 2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio competes directly with:
BMW X3
Porsche Macan
Audi Q5
Mercedes-Benz GLC
Jaguar F-Pace

If you’re looking for a sporty luxury SUV, distinctive Italian design and lightweight engineering, the Stelvio remains a standout choice in the premium midsize SUV segment.
